Project Update – April 2020

KBA completes the programming process, with input from Police Department staff, and begin presenting conceptual options for floor plans and massing (2-story building vs. 3-story building). Both options were proposed with the understanding that the building could potentially be positioned in several locations on the site.

Additional studies were conducted to create efficiencies in the size of the building, with the intention of managing overall costs.

The OPM presented a preliminary project budget based on the conceptual designs and presented a program comparison between the Leominster Police Station and a similarly sized police department project currently under construction.

A motion was made to approve the program for the new building, subject to funding and future changes in the economic environment, and passed by a unanimous vote.

The Project Team prepared to release the invitation to bid for the demolition of existing structures on the site.
